Creative Cruiser Design Ideas

On March, 17th, 2006, Ben started to live full-time on a 1997 40′ Prevost motorcoach. Karen joined Ben living on the bus on January 24th, 2010. Since we’ve been living this way, we’ve come up with many ideas for a more ideal home on wheels. The Creative Cruiser is our hope to create a mobile utopia that is better than our current setup in almost every way. Here are some of the general design ideas that are planned to be implemented. (I will add more detail as time goes on.):

House Electrical Lithium-Ion batteries will supply power for most systems while a roof full of low-profile, semi-flexible solar cells will help extend the time needed before the generator kicks in.

Home Automation All the light switches, circuit breakers, air conditioning and other systems will be controlled by a multiplexing system where only two wires need to be run between components and everything can be controlled by an iPhone, iPad, computer (local or remotely) or via touch panels.

Audio/Video The bedroom should feature a 42″ LED backlit LCD display and a sound system that sounds better than an IMAX theater. The living room will also have a sound system as well as one installed in the dash.

Chassis I’m re-powering the bus with a 350HP Cummins ISC and Allison six-speed automatic transmission. Most of the components of the original torsion bar suspension have been updated with brand new parts.
